The Annual Road Trip to Hollywood
ASC is known for its extraordinary annual Hollywood Road Trip. This is ASC’s most anticipated event each year. Throughout the year, ASC works hard to participate in fundraisers to raise money for the trip to keep costs down for students. Typically students pay $100-$125 for transportation, studio tours, and lodging over a weekend. Students travel together on a bus to Los Angeles where, in the past, they have had the opportunity to tour Sony Studios, watch a live taping of television programs, and visit Universal Studios and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This unique experience also gives students the chance to create bonds and friendships that last a lifetime!
The Degrees of Communication Seminar
Every year, ASC in conjunction with the department of communication, hosts an annual event showcasing the different career opportunities in the field of communication. The Degrees of Communication Seminar is a day of speakers, question and answer sessions, and panel discussions with professionals in all areas of the field of communication. This includes local news anchors, radio personalities, producers and promoters, public relations experts and journalism professionals. Every year, members and students are enriched by the firsthand advice, experience and insight of these men and women. This year’s event is scheduled for April 10, 2010 at West Charleston K-101.
Annual Canned Food Drive
Every fall, ASC works hard to help our Las Vegas community. Members, students and staff donate canned food to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. ASC’s annual Canned Food Drive is one of the most important and popular events held by the students. With the help of members, students and faculty, ASC tries to reach an annual goal of 10,000 cans to donate.
