Q:  Do I have to register for the workshops?
A: Yes. Please follow this link to our online registration site. Course Listing & Registration

Q:  Who is eligible to attend CAPE training?
A:  All faculty and staff including part-time instructors and student workers where appropriate.

Q:  What if I need training that is not on the schedule?
A: Fill out the Workshop Idea Form provided on the CAPE Forms and Publications webpage and submit it to CAPE via email at cape@csn.edu or send it to us interoffice at WM2.

Q:  Will I receive a certificate for the sessions I attend?
A: Certificates are currently issued only for the Customer Service and Sexual Harassment Prevention training by CAPE as they are required sessions.  Some other sessions provided by the Infection Control Manager, and the Office of eLearning have certificates issued as deemed necessary by them.

Q:  What happened to NEATS training?
A: The mandatory training required for all supervisors of Classified personnel that was previously delivered by the Department of Personnel through NEATS, is now provided exclusively online through the Cooperative Extension Service. Q: How often am I required to take the mandatory supervisory training?
A: Every three years.

Q: How often am I required to take the sexual harassment prevention training?
A: Everyone must complete the face-to-face initial training as soon as practicable after being hired, and complete the refresher course every 2 years thereafter.

Q:  I have a workshop that I would like to present.  How would I go about it?
A:  Fill out the Workshop Proposal form provided on the CAPE Forms & Publications page and submit it to CAPE via Email at cape@csn.edu or send it to us interoffice at WM2..

Q:  What is convocation?  Who should attend?
A:  It is the week of training developed for teaching faculty to enhance their performance in the classroom and satisfaction with their jobs.  All faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

Q:  What type of specialized training is available for Classified staff?
A: CAPE offers 2 full days of training, developed in collaboration with Classified Council, delivered mid-semester in the fall and spring targeted to the special needs of Classified and Administrative Support staff.

Q: Is FERPA training required for all faculty and staff?
A: FERPA is the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 that governs the rights of students and institutional responsibilities with respect to student records. It is highly recommended that all faculty and staff take the FERPA online training. Click to access FERPA online.
