ECE 235 Adapting Curriculum for Young Children with Special Needs will be offered Fall 2011, on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:50 at the W. Charleston Campus.  Because ECE 235  is offered every 3rd semester, it will not be offered again until  Spring 2013. This course is required for all who are working on any AAS degree in Early Childhood.


To enroll in ECE 235,  you must have completed ECE 200 Exceptional Child AND one of the following:  ECE 251 Curriculum in Early Childhood Education  OR   ECE252  Infant/Toddler Curriculum.   ECE 251 and ECE 200 will also be offered on-line during the first Summer Session.


ECE 273 Individual Child and Family will be offered Fall 2011 on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:50 at the Cheyenne Campus.  Because ECE 273 is offered every 3rd semester, it will not be offered again until Spring 2013.  There are no pre-requisites for this course.

ATEG Scholarship for Teacher Education Majors

2011-12 Accelerated Teacher Education Grant (ATEG)

Funded by US Department of Education                                                                                              and brought to you by Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE)


NSHE is sponsoring this scholarship to support National College Goals for increasing college graduation rates. This generous scholarship which pays for tuition, books and fees, also offers strong student support from the Department of Education at CSN in facilitating student access to CSN student services and coursework leading to successful completion of a CSN Associate of Arts Degree-Education Emphasis. This is a unique opportunity for education majors to meet with an Education Department advisor and CSN academic advisor to create a degree completion plan that will successfully guide the students to an AA Degree completion. If you or someone you know might be interested, please complete an application as soon as possible. This scholarship is only available for Summer ’12 and Fall ’12 Semesters.

Recipients:  CSN students who have declared an education major in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary or Special Education and have completed 30 college credits. (Funding available for 25+ education students for summer and fall 2011 semesters.)

Scholarship funds for: tuition, fees, and books for 18 credits.  (Laptops are available for checkout for the duration of the scholarship).

Scholarship Requirements:  1) Preference to low-income and under-represented education students.  2) U.S Citizen and 3) 3.0 college/university, cumulative, GPA.

Preference given to

oStudents identified as low-income (Pell recipient, unemployed, under-employed, and other documentation of individual need)

oStudents under-represented in the education profession (minority status, Low-income, bilingual, English, math, science or special education majors, first generation to attend higher education etc.)

oStudents with approximately 30 credits completed.
