Do you write poems?  Do you want to write poems but aren’t sure you know what you’re doing? Welcome to English 220, Writing Poetry!

English 220, Writing Poetry is a new class at CSN, and it’s online, which means students can attend class any time.  This course will focus on student work.  The class is structured around the workshop format.  Students and instructor will read and respond to the students’ poems with an eye toward readying the work for potential publication.  In addition, students will be reading contemporary poetry and learning how to critique poems, both their own and others’. 

English 220, Writing Poetry is taught by Professor Jean French, poetry editor for CSN’s respected literary journal, Red Rock Review.  Professor French is a published poet and writer.  

English 220, Writing Poetry is part of the exciting new Creative Writing degree program at CSN, but students don’t have to be enrolled in the program to take the course.  All poets, beginners to the experienced, are welcome.
