Submission Guidelines

Required General Submission Guidelines
- Manuscripts must be mailed flat in a large manila (clasp-style) envelope.
Do not fold pages into a letter-sized envelope.
- Submissions must include a cover letter and a self-addressed, stamped envelope
for return of manuscripts.
- Manuscripts must be legibly typed or computer-generated on 8 1/2"
x 11" white bonded paper. Use standard fonts or typefaces (Courier, Helvetica,
or Times) and standard font sizes (10 point for typing, 12 point on computers).
- Freshly typed or printed manuscripts or clear, fresh photocopies are required.
- Fiction must be no more than 7,500 words; essays must be no more than 5,000
words; poems must be no more than 80 lines.
Short Fiction and Essay Submissions (Suggested)
- One-inch margins all around each page. Indent new paragraphs five spaces
or 1/2"; justify left margin. Justification of right margin is not necessary.
- Name, address, and phone number appear single-spaced in the top left corner
of page one.
- Approximate word count appears in the top right corner of page one.
- Title (in CAPS) and byline (including name) appear single-spaced and centered
1/3 of the way down the first page.
- A header including last name, key word from title, and page number appears
on subsequent pages. The header appears in the left corner 1/2" down
from the top of the page and 1" in from the left edge.
- Text is double-spaced. Do not add extra blank lines between paragraphs
unless creating section breaks.
Poetry Submissions (Suggested)
- Left and right margins are set at the discretion of the poet; top margin
(and bottom if necessary) should be 1".
- Name, address, and phone number appear single-spaced in the left corner
of every page.
- Include key word from title and page numbers (top right corner of page)
if a poem goes over one page.
- Lines of text may be single- or double-spaced.

The Red Rock Review, a literary journal published twice annually by
the College of Southern Nevada and edited by Dr. Richard Logsdon,
is dedicated to the publication of fine contemporary literature. We invite submissions
of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction as well as book reviews. We do
not publish literary criticism.
