He brings to this posture a bachelors and masters in music with additional graduate work in the areas of Developmental and Remedial Reading and School Psychology and postgraduate work in School Psychology. In his thirty years in education Earl taught band, strings and choir; third, fourth and fifth grades; he has been an elementary counselor and administrator, a secondary remedial reading teacher; and was a counselor and taught Psychology at the community college level. At CSN they have both participated in the band and orchestra, while Earl has additionally played in the Wednesday Night Big Band and various combos. Earl has also guided and played in various woodwind ensembles and taught private lessons on various woodwind instruments.

Earl states that working in the Department of Fine Arts at CSN is an amazing experience. Everyone in the department is a consummate professional in their own right and brings a myriad of skills and experiences to the classroom. I don't think the students realize what a unique opportunity they are having, studying with these professional educators. Earl says about CSN, "working here is not a job, it's a joy, and I really look forward to coming to CSN every morning."
