Pianist Elier Suarez, Chair of Jury, is a graduate of the Juilliard School and winner of the American National Chopin Piano Competition. His orchestral appearances as soloist have included performances with the symphonies of Dallas, Miami, Pittsburgh, Rochester and Spoleto Festival in Charleston.
Besides the Spoleto Festival, he has been a guest artist at the music festivals of Ambler (Temple University), Aspen and Chautauqua. Solo recitals throughout the United States have taken him to such major centers as Cincinnati, Ft. Worth, Houston, Madison, Miami, Milwaukee, New York, Philadelphia, Rochester, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. His Washington debut at the Phillips Collection was broadcast to 75 North American cities via Parkway Network. Internationally, his radio broadcasts have been heard through the "Voice of America". In addition, he has represented the organization of American States abroad and is a cultural specialist for the United States Information Agency's "Arts America Program". Through the "Arts America Program" he was Artist-In-Residence at the Delhi School of Music in New Delhi, India in celebration of their Silver Jubilee. At the Eastman School of Music, he received the coveted "Performer's Certificate" which led to a two-year appointment as a member of the piano faculty. He is Past President of the New York State Music Teachers Association, Inc., as well as Past President of the Rochester Piano Teachers Guild, Inc. As chamber musician, he has collaborated with the Composers String Quartet from Columbia University, and as duo-pianists with both his sister Eyda and Brian Preston. As clinician, he has presented workshops for the State Convention of the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association and the National Convention of the Music Teachers National Association. Furthermore, he is very much in demand as an adjudicator. |

Amy Chen-Huey Martin, graduated from the Music Department of the National Taiwan Academy of Arts. She entered the Academy at the age of fifteen as one of the five talented pianists the Academy chooses once a year from many candidates throughout Taiwan.
Upon graduation, Mrs. Martin went on to further study at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and the Holy Names College in Oakland, California to receive her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music, respectively, in Piano Performance. Among her teachers were Ursula Wang, Walter Hautzig and Bernhard Abramowitsch. Mrs. Martin is an experienced performer. She performed the debut of Ma Jiang Suit of composer Marion Mak in Washington D. C. and appeared with the Holy Names College Symphony, along with numerous solo recitals and has played extensively as accompanist for strings, flute and voice teachers. She has been a faculty member at the Preparatory Music Department of Holy Names College since 1984 and served as President of the United States Open Music Competition (annual piano competition open to pianists of all ages) from 1996-2000. At present, Mrs. Martin is an adjudicator for the Music Teachers' Association of California and National Guild of Piano Teachers. She is the chairperson for the Bay Area-Oakland Center of the N.G.P.T. as well as the Certificate of Merit Chair - MTAC. Recently, Mrs. Martin takes on a position as Music Director at the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church in Oakland. |

Dr. Richard McGee, CSN Orchestra Conductor, is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Denver, where he studied conducting with Vincent LaGuardia. After conducting high school band for five years, Richard moved to Las Vegas in 1981 to pursue a music career on the Strip. He first worked at the MGM Grand, then later at the Tropicana, where he was lead trombonist and assistant conductor for the Folies Bergeres Orchestra. In 1989, Richard was offered his current teaching position at the Community College of Southern Nevada.
Since that time, he earned his doctorate in Education Administration from UNLV, was founding Artistic Director of the CSN Fine Arts Center, and is founder of the Nevada Symphonic Wind Ensemble. In the first season of The Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra, he produced and conducted four concerts in the First Annual Youth Concert Series which he designed especially for the 5,000 fourth and fifth grade Clark County School students who attended the Ham Hall concerts. This season he expanded the Youth series to 6 concerts which were attended by 10,000 Las Vegas students. |
