Nature of Work Cardiorespiratory Sciences (CRS) is a multidisciplined, multicredentialed program preparing students in care, management, and lif-support of individuals having deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. A successful graduate of this program will obtain credentials from the American Heart Association, Cardiovascular Credentialing International, and the National Board for Respiratory Care. RCPs and cardiac technicians work with people of all ages in hospitals, clinics, offics, home health,, schools, public health, military, and the Federal Government. As our nation moves toward health care reform, these practitioners will continue to be in a valuable profession, thus ensuring job security. Program Description The Cardiorespiratory Sciences Program provides a quality academic experience preparing Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) and Cardiac Technicians. The graduate will possess the attitudes, skills, and knowledge required to think critically, communicate effectively, and provide self-direction while administering care. This program emphasizes developing competencies that integrate protocols, clinical practice guidelines, and critical pathways into an efficient cardiorespiratory care plan. The program includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical practice instruction. Critical thinking, patient assessment, and critical care skills are emphasized in preparing the student/graduate to sit for both certification and registry level testing. Accreditation This program has obtained accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. Cardiorespiratory Sciences at CSN Career Guide and Approximate Costs Physical and Essential Requirements for Job Performance TEAS Exam Information and Registration Form NOTE: Students who have taken the TEAS exam from another state and/or institution must have all their scores officially transferred to CSN BEFORE their specified application deadline. An unofficial copy must also be presented with the limited entry application packet. Admission Requirements The CSN CRS program is a Limited Entry Program. Therefore, an application for admission into the program must be submitted and all prerequisite requirements must be completed by the completion deadline in order to be eligible for consideration.
