Limited Entry Q&A’s

  1. Do I have to submit a copy of my transcripts from other schools even if they’ve already been evaluated?
Yes. If courses are accepted without a grade, such as TR, on the DARs report a transcript is needed to determine grades. Grades are needed to either compute a Grade Point Average on prerequisite courses or to verify C or better in the general education courses for points in some programs. Also, the selection committee may need clarification from the transcripts.

  2. Do UNLV, NSC, or UNR credits have to be transfered to CSN?
Yes, if you want them to be considered for CSN degree requirements. Information on the Transfer Credit Evaluation process is available here.

  3. If I have an Associate Degree or higher do I still have to submit a copy of my high school diploma?
Although a high school diploma or GED is not required by the college, some Limited-Entry programs require it for licensing purposes. College degrees or transcripts do not satisfy this requirement. Refer to your program advisement sheet for information on whether it is required for your program.

  4. What if my high school diploma is from a foreign country?
A foreign high school diploma is acceptable as long as a graduation date appears on the diploma and it is clear that the diploma is from a high school and not a college degree.

  5. What if I am unable to obtain a copy of my high school diploma or transcripts from a foreign country?
You can take the equivalency test (GED).

  6. What if I am unable to obtain a copy of my high school diploma from the continental United States?
Contact your high school and have transcripts sent to you. If for any reason you cannot obtain transcripts from your school contact the State Board of Education at the state where you attended school and request transcripts from them. You can also take the equivalency test (GED).

  7. Can I use a Certificate of Completion in phlebotomy as a credential to earn points?
No. A credential requires either a state or national test. Passing such test will either provide a license, state certification or a national registry.

  8. Can I apply to a Limited Entry program if I have not completed the prerequisite courses?
You can apply without completing prerequisite courses or other program requirements ONLY with a memo from the Program Director. The memo must include each missing course or unmet requirement.

  9. How do I know If I am ready to apply?
If unsure contact the Health Programs Advising Office. Refer to page 8 of the booklet given to you at the Health Programs orientation.

  10. Can I apply after the application deadline?
Late applications will be accepted only if the applicant pool is less than the number required to fill the program.

  11. Can I apply to more than one program?
Yes. If you have completed all of the program courses and requirements, you can apply to multiple programs. However, you can accept a position in ONLY one program. Once you accept a position in a program, all other applications are void and will not be processed.

  12. If I am not accepted is my application packet kept on file?
No. If you reapply you must provide all documentation again. Once the selection is completed all files are closed and no longer available.
