This is a Limited-Entry Program, interested students residing in the Las Vegas Metropolitan area must attend a Health Programs Orientation.
*Students interested in this program must be a graduate of an approved practical nursing program, and be currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in Nevada.

Program Description
The program includes both classroom instruction and clinical practice in adult health nursing, family health nursing and mental health nursing.

CSN Nursing Programs are accredited by the National League for Nursing and the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

Licensing Requirements
All states require Professional Nurses to be licensed. To become licensed in the State of Nevada, you must have graduated from an approved school of professional nursing and have passed the national licensing examination.
In addition to successfully completing the prescribed course of study in an approved school of nursing, the Nevada Nurse Practice Act (NRS 632.140) requires that candidates for licensure be (1) of good moral character (2) in good physical and mental health. Prospective students are advised that if they have been convicted of a felony prior to admission to the program that this may preclude subsequent licensure to practice as a nurse in Nevada (NRS 632.320). If this is the case, it is suggested that the prospective student contact the Nevada State Board of Nursing prior to applying to the program.
Admission Requirements
This is a Limited Entry Program. Therefore, an application for admission must be submitted by the application deadline and all prerequisite requirements must be completed by the completion deadline in order to be eligible for consideration. This material is reviewed using selection criteria set by the program. Applicants are notified of their standing by the Limited Entry office. Note: Students interested in the Advanced Placement for Licensed Practical Nurses program MUST attend a health programs orientation.

Pilot Test for Assessment of Anatomy & Physiology/Microbiology
Note: Only students applying to the Nursing or Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program may be eligible to take the Pilot Test.
Science courses must be no older than 7 years old at the time of entry into the Limited Entry Programs at CSN. Students applying to the nursing program who completed college transferable course(s) with a "C" or better in Anatomy & Physiology (8 credits) and/or Microbiology (4 credits), greater than 7 years ago may be eligible to take a pilot test(s) for these subjects. By satisfactorily passing a standardardized exam for Anatomy & Physiology and/or Microbiology, the Nursing Program Director will waive the 7 year policy for the science courses, and science courses can then be used for purposes of selection into the Nursing program.
Accepted Students
Students accepted into the program will be required to show proof of CPR certification, health insurance, immunization against Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tetanus, Diphtheria and proof of a negative TB skin test. A physical examination must also be completed. This documentation is due at the mandatory advising session held during the week before classes begin each semester.
