Medical Lab Assistant

Program Description Medical lab assistants perform basic testing of blood and other bodily fluids for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Upon successful completion of the required coursework, students are eligible to take the Phlebotomy Technician national certification and apply for Nevada state license as a laboratory assistant

Medical Lab Technician

Program Description Medical lab technicians work in all areas of the laboratory including hematology, chemistry, blood bank, immunology, microbiology and urinalysis. Working under the supervision of a medical technologist, a Medical Laboratory Technician hunts for clues to the absence, presence, extent, and causes of disease.

What To Expect On campus lectures and labs
Students will be assigned to a medical laboratory for experience

Phlebotomy

Program Description Phlebotomists collect blood specimens, check samples and assume responsibility for patients’ comfort and safety. They perform venipuncture, skin punctures, blood culture collection and other laboratory tests and may have responsibility for specimen handling and processing.
Where Do I Start? You must attend a program orientation and demonstrate placement into ENG 101 and MATH 95
What To Expect On campus or online lectures and on campus labs
120 hours of assigned clinical experience (weekdays, evenings or weekends)
