The Occupational Therapy Assistant program has been challenged by the loss of both the Program Director and Academic Field Work Coordinator during the last academic year.  This loss of program leadership has impacted our ability to maintain compliance with several of the Accreditation Standards for an Educational Program for the Occupational Therapy Assistant.  Therefore, the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) has advised us that the program status has been changed to Probationary Accreditation.  Although Probationary Accreditation is an accreditation category and the program is recognized and listed as being Accredited, currently enrolled students and those seeking admission must be advised that the program is on probation.  We hope to have adequate leadership in place in the near future, correct all areas of non-compliance, and regain full accreditation status.

In the meantime, we are unable to accept new students.  We realize that many of you have been taking prerequisite courses in preparation for application to this program and we are truly sorry that the current circumstances have impacted those educational plans.  We want to assure you that it is our intent to install qualified program leadership and accept a new class as soon as possible.  However, there is no guarantee as to when, or if, that will happen.  Therefore, we encourage you to make an appointment with a Health Programs Advisor to consider other educational options for a career in a health profession.

We wish you the best as you consider future educational opportunities.   Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
