CSN Research Databases

Research databases can be accessed by CSN students at the CSN Library web page—click "Find Articles and Research Information." These research databases selected by CSN Librarians will provide you access to many articles from thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers, broadcast transcripts, book chapters, and other information sources. (They don't include articles from free web sites or blogs!)

The databases provide citations, abstracts, and/or the full text of articles that originally appeared in print.

General research databases such as Academic OneFile, ProQuest, Academic Search Premier, and Expanded Academic ASAP are sometimes called "periodical indexes" or "journal indexes." These allow you to perform electronic searches by keyword or subject through thousands of magazines, journals, and newspapers.

We also have specialized research databases. For example, Literature Resource Center provides author biographies and literature criticism. Opposing Viewpoints and Issues and Controversies have expert essays on either side of controversial issues. Similarly, CQ Researcher (Congressional Quarterly Researcher) offers thoroughly researched articles on public policy concerns.
