Images of Comet Hyakutake

Thirty second exposure with a SBIG ST-6 through a 10" f/5 Meade DS-10 with a red filter. Exposure stated at 23:05:52 pst on March 20, 1996. Minor enhancement with Adobe Photoshop using unsharp masking. This image has more brightness adjustment than the image below to bring out more detail in the coma of the comet.

Thirty second exposure with a SBIG ST-6 through a 10" f/5 Meade DS-10 with no filter. Exposure stated at 23:26:59 pst on March 20, 1996. Minor enhancement with Adobe Photoshop using unsharp masking. This image has less image brightening than the image above to bring out more detail near the nucleus of the comet. Note the motion by comparing the background stars in these two images taken 20 minutes apart. The brighter star below the comet in the first image is the same as the star above the comet in the second.

Fifty second exposure with a SBIG ST-6 through a 12" f/16 Cassegrain telescope with no filter. Exposure stated at 23:16:52 pst on March 21, 1996. Minor enhancement with Adobe Photoshop.
