Position open - Space Science Instructor
Chabot Space and Science Center, a new, 83,000 sq.
ft. facility in Oakland, California, has a position open
for Space Science Instructor. The Space Science
Instructor will present various aspects of
Chabot's planetarium and other specialized programs to
multiple audiences. Instructor conducts astronomy workshops and classes and is engaged in the
general operation of all Planetarium, Science Theater,
and Observatory activities.
Duties:
- - Composes or edits program script
- - Presents program script smoothly and professionally
- - Participates in various aspects of production
- - Develops and conducts Astronomy and Space Science workshops and classes,
and observing sessions, as required
- - Presents "Star Lab" classes and
educational classes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four year college
or university with a background in astronomy or
related field; or one to two years related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience.
- - Excellent public speaking skills.
- - Computer literate
- - Interacts well with groups and individuals, including school children and
general public
- - Must have driver's license and reliable car
to commute to various offsite locations
Salary begins at $35,000 annual
