Teachers, students, and teachers-in-training are encouraged to utilize the NRERC and its resources to enhance understanding of historic and current space-related topics. Some examples of the wide spectrum of subjects available are: astronomy, art, social sciences, physical sciences, technology utilization, energy, earth studies, careers, aeronautics, and mathematics. The resources are available in a variety of formats including posters, lithographs, lesson guides, activity guides, slide/audio programs, computer programs, and videotapes.
All the public domain items at the NRERC are available for dissemination or duplication. If the NRERC has mulitple originals of a particular resource, it will be distributed for free. If the NRERC only possesses one original, then the resource will be copied. Usually, requests for materials can be processed within a week.
Once the item is distributed or copied, it is the property of the individual who requests it. The NRERC does not loan out its resources.
The services of the NRERC are free and intended for non-profit educational purposes only. The patrons of the NRERC are expected to bring their own source materials for duplication. However, if the visitor cannot supply his/her own duplication materials, the NRTRC can provide them at a nominal fee. The fees are subject to change depending upon operational costs of the NRERC. The current fees are as follows: Videotapes - $5.00; Computer Disks - $3.00; Xerox Copies - 10 cents/page; Cassette Tapes - $1.00; Slides - $1.00 each. It is actually cheaper to order the slide programs directly from NASA CORE. Therefore, the slide programs, as well as copyrighted materials, will serve mainly preview purposes. The guest can then decide to purchase the product from its manufacturer. It is preferable for patrons of the NRTRC to come visit the center to pick up requested materials. However, because of our commitment to reach all areas of Nevada, dissemination through the mail is possible. Unfortunately, sending materials through the mail is not very cost-effective. The NRERC asks all local (Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson) patrons to please come in to the NRERC to acquire resources. Patrons of the NRERC can request materials by letter, visit, phone call, Email, or through the World Wide Web. The address of the NRERC is:
The NRERC is located in Room 2025 on the Cheyenne campus of CSN. It is upstairs from The Planetarium.
