 Professional Development Courses

These  courses indented for Slot Technicians that prefer a formal course  to learn new skills or as refresher courses on areas of repair that many technicians infrequently perform.   All of these courses require a basic understanding of DC and AC electronics, but there are no prerequisites required to simplify the registration process.   If you want a refresher courses on AC and DC theory CSN offers ET 131B DC for Electronics and ET 132B AC for Electronics during the fall and spring semesters.   We have offered two different professional development courses and are considering  additional ones.

ET 198B ST: CRT/LCD 4 CREDITS  FEE: $256.00 (Fall 08 Charges -later semesters may vary)

This course details the theory and operation of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays and Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD). In addition, Switched Mode power supplies which are found in most CRT and LCDs will be explained. The student will learn circuit operation, analog and digital signal formats. The hands-on labs will include troubleshooting and symptom/cure charts of various manufacturer’s CRT and LCD monitors. Students will also perform CCFL replacement and color correction. Prerequisites: ET 131B: ET 132B, ET 212B. These requirements can be waived for appropriate job experience.

NOTE: In the Fall of 2009 the above course will be called: ET 206B CRT and LCD Repair   4(3,3,0,0).  This fall and during the following spring the course will be listed as the course above.

ET 198B ST: Power Supply 3 Credits   FEE: $192.00  (Fall 08 Charges -later semesters may vary)
