Prison Programs
The Division of Workforce & Economic Development coordinates Prison Programs for the inmate population in Southern Nevada, to include an emphasis on the delivery of credit and non-credit customized courses. We strive to provide post-secondary education to prison inmates and those who may be transitioning out of the prison system, to enhance the educational and employment opportunities. Our courses are offered in partnerships with the Nevada Department of Corrections.
As part of this program, we regularly offer courses for prison inmates who are working towards a two-year degree in one of the following areas: Associates of General Studies Degree (AGS), Associates of Arts Degree (AA), Associates of Business Degree (AB), and Associates of Applied Science Degree (AAS).
Classes for the prison Program are held at the following Nevada Department of Correction Institutions:
- High Desert State Prison
- Southern Desert Correctional Center
- Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center
- Casa Grande Transitional Center
