General Questions

Which course should I take first?
Students should begin with the OSHA 511 General Industry Standards or the OSHA 510 Construction Industry Standards courses.

How do I register?
Registration can be taken through a variety of means from phone, fax, and mail. Online registration is not available for the OSHA Training Institute Education Center courses. Please see our registration page for more information.

What course meets the prerequisite for the OSHA 500 (or OSHA 501) class?
The prerequisite for the OSHA 500 (OSHA 501) course is the OSHA 510 (OSHA 511) course and 5 years safety experience.  The OSHA 30 no longer meets the prerequisite requirements for these courses.

Will I receive a 30 hour card for completing the OSHA 510 or OSHA 511 class?
No.  The 30 hour courses are different courses that are hazards based.  The OSHA 510 and 511 are the standards based courses and the prerequisites for the OSHA 500 and OSHA 501.

Why have there been changes to the requirements for the OSHA 500/501 and the 30 hour cards on the OSHA 510/511?
OSHA has implemented these changes for all OSHA Training Institute Education Centers as of 2009.

Where are the classes held?
Unless otherwise noted, classes in Las Vegas are held at the West Charleston Campus located at 6375 West Charleston Blvd. in Building M room 101 or 103.

Occassionally some classes will be held at the Sahara West Center at 2409 Las Verdes St. Las Vegas NV 89102. These classes will be marked as Sahara West in the schedule.

Are there CEU's available for courses taken at SCATS?
Yes. Please contact SCATS or abigail.rakvica@csn.edu for the form.

What is your cancellation policy?
CSN reserves the right to discontinue, postpone, cancel classes, change instructors, or change class locations. We receive no public funding and are self-supporting from class fees. If a minimum enrollment is not reached, a class may be cancelled prior to the first meeting. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Refunds are issued under the following circumstances: If you would like to be considered for a refund, we must receive written request at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the first scheduled class meeting. A $10 processing fee, per class, will be deducted. Once a class has begun no refunds will be issues. You may fax your refund requests to (702)651-4538 or mail your requests to: CSN DWED Registration Refund, 2409 Las Verdes St Las Vegas, NV 89102. If you register fourteen calendar days or less prior to the start date of class you will not be eligible for a refund.

 

For classes held in Reno, registration closes 3 weeks prior to the start of the class. Cancellations in Reno only, must be requested in writing to the above address 3 weeks prior to the start of class.


Specialization Program Questions

How do I enroll in the specialization program?
To enroll you must complete the attached form.

Is there a cost for the specialization program?
There is a onetime $50.00 enrollment fee.

Are there prerequisites for the specialization program?
Prerequisites for individual courses still apply, students must meet these prerequisites.

Can I transfer courses from other OTI Education Centers into this specialization program?
Yes, you can transfer up to two courses from another OTI Education Center into your specialization.

How do I enroll in the individual classes of the specialization program?
You must enroll for each class individually.
This can be done through the regular registration process. You may take classes prior to enrolling in the specialization program.
